Catherine G. asks: We are PCS'ing to White Sands Missle Range NM.  Anyone have any info about it? I really appreciate it!

Jazzma G. says: I'm from El Paso and used to go there all the time as a kid... when you say that I assume you will be living in EP right? Its beautiful it like a white sand beach with mountains in the back and no water lol... what would you like to know?

Catherine G. says: We will be living in military housing on the missile range but I would love to knw anything u can tell me we have never pcsed yet so I have only lived on fort campbell (besides my hometown in Indiana) is it a good area what is white sands like?

Army Housing says: Hi Catherine you can view housing options on the Army Housing Online User Services Website (https://www.housing.army.mil/ah) and to view off-post housing options you can log on to www.ahrn.com. Please let us know if you need any other info pertaining to housing.

Jazzma G. says: Honestly it's kinda in the middle of a few big cities...I wasnt even aware that they had housing on the range depending on what part your husband is working in your close to either Las Cruces NM or El Paso Tx. I hope you like warm weather and Mexican food! :) ok so warm may be an under statement! Visually it really is a stunning area... if you remember Boys II Men they had that song "water runs dry" well that video is White Sands... just dont take the sand... its illegal! H

Catherine G. says: Thank u for the info I appreciate it!!

Cindy S. says: It's also very close to Alamogordo. My inlaws live in Cloudcroft so we visit often. It's kinda boring down in the valley but the mountains and sands are nice to see. Las Cruces isn't that far from the missile range and is alot better than Alamogordo.

Catherine G. says: Do you know how far Las Cruces is?

Jazzma G. says: Not very far at all... Maybe 45 min w/ traffic...

Jazzma G. says: Cloudcroft is great for skiing in the winter!

Catherine G. says: Does it get cold there?

Jazzma G. says: White sands or even Cruces not really. Cloudcroft is just high in the mountains...

Jazzma G. says: Windy though...

Catherine G. says: ‎45 mins away is going to suck to go to just walmart lol

Jazzma G. says: Most people that I know who work at the range live in one if the cities... I wasn't even aware they had housing!

Catherine G. says: It seems to be really nice! but im nervous im from by chicago so thats way out of my element

Jazzma G. says: Well you will have warmer weather year round and it gets down right hot in the summer but it really is beautiful! Consider living in one of the cities if you can.. the food is great in that area as well.
